Ten old titles set to be available on Valveâ??s online platform

LucasArts has hastened its push to capitalize on old franchises by taking ten classic games to Valve’s Steam platform.

The announcement comes shortly after the Californian company revealed it is developing a heavily-updated edition of the original Secret of Monkey Island game, while Telltale Games will be breathing new life into the MI franchise with original episodic content.

It is said that the Steam releases will arrive on July 8; just one day after Telltale releases the first episode of its new series.

"This effort is going to make it possible to introduce a whole new generation of gamers to LucasArts’ classic games," said LucasArts president Darrell Rodriguez. "It also gives more people a chance to play our games by making them available long after they’ve disappeared from store shelves.”

Titles set for release on Steam by July 8 are:

Armed And Dangerous
Indiana Jones And The Fate Of Atlantis
Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade: The Graphic Adventure
Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventure
Star Wars Battlefront II
Star Wars Republic Commando
Star Wars Starfighter
The Dig
Thrillville: Off The Rails

This new reliance on older titles is likely to continue, with Rodriguez adding: “We hope our fans are as excited as we are about our plans and we can’t wait to share what’s coming next. This is just the beginning."
