Intel Developer Blog: How the Intel XDK helps you create your app and get it to market

Make HTML5 apps more quickly with this great free tool

Developers want to create apps and games for a wider range of devices and get them onto the app stores faster. Intel XDK can help you to do just that. It provides tools that take you through every part of the process of creating an HTML or hybrid app quicker and more thoroughly, to speed up your time to market.

Intel XDK has specific tools and tabs for each of the various stages of the development process; from developing, testing and debugging to deploying apps across different app stores and web platforms. And for those who want to ensure more capabilities across more devices, it also supports Cordova plug-ins and has built-in emulation support for Cordova device APIs, to help you create a more feature-rich app.

For creating the basic foundations of the app, there are a number of features to help simplify the process. Two examples of this are the UI builder features; there’s App Starter for less experienced developers and App Designer for the advanced. The App Designer supports various frameworks including Twitter Bootstrap and jQuery Mobile, so you can get more code written, more quickly and can easily refine the user interface of your app.

Testing and debugging your app is rarely a developer’s favourite part of the process. However Intel XDK’s Live Preview feature means you can preview your app on your device or on a separate browser, while you are still coding or debugging that app. You can also test your app as if it were running on a different phone or device and then quickly switch over to debug when you need to, while inside the device emulator. And if you’re on Android, you can actually debug apps remotely with the JS Remote Debugger for Android.

For deployment, Intel XDK allows you to build your app for all of the main app stores; from the Google Play Store, to Apple App Store and Windows 8 Stores.

So, if you’re keen to learn more and get started, download the free Intel XDK and start developing!
