A new partnership between Marmalade Technologies and GameSparks aims to make the tech required for online and mobile games more accessible to devs of all sizes.
The two firms have teamed up to launch Marmalade Game Services, a back-end offering that will be powered by GameSparks. The new service is available now.
Marmalade Game Services allows devs to build all of the server-side features they need, enabling them to communicate with players, create multiplayer functions and handle in-game economies. While the tech will be powered by GameSparks, it will be integrated into Marmalade’s C++ SDK.
“Launching Marmalade Game Services is an essential part of our evolution toward becoming a full game development platform, so it was critical that we partnered with the best cross-platform BaaS solution,” said Marmalade CEO Harvey Elliott. “GameSparks have enormous experience helping developers with the server-side elements of their games, so they were a natural fit for Marmalade Game Services.”
GameSparks CEO Griffin Parry added: “Marmalade is a tool for developers who are serious about games and so is GameSparks. Through this partnership, we’re excited to be able to offer GameSparks’ backend services to Marmalade’s rich community of developers, so that they can more easily build and manage server–side features of their games from within the Marmalade platform.”
Marmalade Game Services is the first in a new line of cloud-based products from the middleware firm. More news on the Marmalade Cloud Services range is expected in the coming months.
