Media Molecule has already hired five people who have amazed with their level creations in LittleBigPlanet, a co-founder at the studio has said.
The PS3 title provides tools for users to build their own worlds and upload them online for the PlayStation community to browse through and play.
Many standout user-created levels have become online sensations on YouTube, yet Media Molecule co-founder Kareem Ettouney said his team were so impressed with some creations that the studio had to start offering people jobs.
So far five people have found themselves working at one of the most famous and admired game studios in the world, and Ettouney said at an event in London today that the studio is open to hiring more.
Ettouney was speaking at the Learning Without Frontiers event in London, a three-day conference for discussion and debate on digital media, education, technology and entertainment.
He argued that Media Molecule’s own self-made levels in LittleBigPlanet were just as important as the level editor tools that people can use.
Media Molecule’s own LBP levels “are a committed act of using the tools, and can inspire people to use them for themselves. In our era of information accessibility for children these days, we need to give people a reason to use toys. You have to inspire them. The Beatles started by imitating Elvis,” Ettouney said.
LittleBigPlanet’s sequel will be released from January 18.
