A group of fans are working on a VR museum dedicated to Hideo Kojima’s Metal Gear Solid series, and even has the backing of Solid Snake himself.

The Fan Legacy: Metal Gear Solid will enable players to explore a recreation of the iconic Shadow Moses setting for the 1998 title, decorated with artwork and other virtual exhibits from throughout the series.

The project started life as a fan remake of the original PlayStation title, but this was shut down after legal pressure from Konami, according to Eurogamer.

Notably, the team behind The Fan Legacy have revealed David Hayter, the original voice of Solid Snake, is also on-board. It will be the first time Hayter has voiced Snake since 2010’s Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker.

Hayter recently shared his disappointment in how he was replaced by 24 star Kiefer Sutherland for the two Metal Gear Solid V titles, stating he would never work with Hideo Kojima again.

The Fan Legacy: Metal Gear Solid is due to launch in May – assuming this doesn’t get shut down by Konami as well. The developers have stressed that this is “an unofficial, non-profit production”.

Series creator Hideo Kojima will be attending The Develop Awards 2016 this July, where he will be presented with our prestigious Development Legend award. Find out how to book your place at www.developawards.com.
