Microsoft has unveiled a new augmented reality headset called the HoloLens.

The firm claims the tech will allow users to interact with holograms in a physical space by using gestures and voice. These holograms can then also be pinned to physical locations that can turn rooms into a game, as well as other possibilities.

One example saw a person using the headset to interact with their constructions in Minecraft, all spread across their living room.

As well as sensors to track gestures, the headset also contains its own CPU and GPU chips, a holographic processing unit and spatial surround sound.

Microsoft has said the device will be available “in the Windows 10 time frame”.

You can view a video of the headset in action below.
