Subscription tiers created in an effort to democratise 3D character animation

Mixamo unveils new pricing model for game animations

Mixamo has unveiled a new range of pricing tiers as it aims to make its suite of animations and tools available to small indie teams and triple-A developers.

The firm has introduced a starter tier for $25 per month or $250 per year targeted at beginners and new users. The price includes five animations per month, access to character creator Fuse Basic, unlimited auto rigging of Fuse characters and a 15-day trial of Face Plus.

The Indie tier meanwhile, at $50 per month, offers ten animations per-month, the full version of the Fuse character creator, unlimited auto rigging of Fuse characters and full access to Face Plus and level of detail services Decimator and Skeleton.

All Access users are charged $150 per month, and get 50 animations per month, plus the benefits from other tiers and access to premium support. Users on the yearly plan of $1,500 are not capped on the number of animations they can access.

The firm said it has also reduced the cost of many one-off animations or auto rigging session purchases.

“Our mission is to democratise 3D character creation by making it more accessible to artists at every skill level,” said Mixamo CEO Stefano Corazza.

“However, our community kept giving us feedback that our pricing wasn’t as accessible as our technology. So we embarked on a months-long pricing analysis and polled over ten thousand customers. The result is a new pricing strategy that is far more flexible and provides pricing levels that meet the needs of our growing and diverse user base.”
