US outfit looking to expand Canadian branch to 60 employees over the next six months

Mobile dev TinyCo opens new studio in Vancouver

San Francisco-based mobile firm TinyCo has opened a new studio in Vancouver.

The Tiny Monsters and Tiny Village developer, which has raised $18m in financing, is hoping to staff up its new office with 60 employees during the next six months, and is currently hiring artists, engineers and designers.

The studio’s CEO Suli Ali said it had made the decision to expand to the region because it was not as competitive as Montreal and it was an ideal place to keep easy communication with the San Francisco branch.

“Vancouver is a bourgeoning game development community with a lot of great creative in the mobile space,” Suli Ali told Develop.

“It’s not as competitive as Montreal, and it will be easy for everyone to communicate on the same time zone. We will have SF based resources at the studio frequently and its a very easy flight. It will be easier for us to relocate talent to Vancouver from around the world.”
