Molyneux and Schafer lead new rush of GDC talks

A new batch of industry stars have been confirmed as guest speakers at this year’s Game Developers Conference.

The likes of Peter Molyneux and Tim Schafer will make an appearance at the eminent trade event, as will Final Fantasy XIII director Motomu Toriyama.

Lionhead’s Peter Molyneux is set to discuss the design issues surrounding a more approachable user-interface. He will do so using examples from the upcoming Fable III, a title which has been closely linked to Microsoft’s upcoming controllerless device, Natal.

Meanwhile, Double Fine’s Tim Schafer will be exploring ways in which comedy can be applied to game narratives, speaking with game narrative writer Rhianna Pratchett and Tales Of Monkey Island script writer Sean Vanaman.

Also, marking a rare Western lecture, Final Fantasy XIII’s director Motomu Toriyama will discuss the various literary aspects of the high-profile title.

And, in a first for GDC, artists and animators from Pixar will be attending the event, offering a lecture on how the pioneering CG studio brigs its work to life.

Early bird rates for GDC 2010 end in just two days, with Google already offering a Android smartphone for devs booking before deadline.
