Budding developers will have the chance to learn from those who’ve found success in the world of games at a new BAFTA event.

Guru Live will run from April 30th to May 2nd at BAFTA’s London HQ, offering attendees the opportunity to meet professionals, many of whom are former BAFTA award winners and nominees, across film, TV and games.

Each day will focus on each one of the three industries, including a creative keynote speech, workshops and masterclasses, and networking.

The Guru Live: Games event will take place on Saturday, April 30th, with talks covering topics including storytelling, performance capture, VR and more.

The games experts for the inaugural show will include Ustwo Games producer Dan Gray, 80 Days writer Meg Jayanth and Luke Whittaker and Katherine Bidwell from Lumino City developer State of Play.

General admission tickets are £6, with ‘Guru Pro’ tickets – available to devs with more than six months of experience – are £40, granting one-to-one meetings and roundtables with the speakers.

“Film, television and games can be among the hardest industries to break in to, so this opportunity to meet and engage with BAFTA members, nominees and winners is a brilliant way to help break down the barriers new talent may be facing,” said Tim Hunter, director of learning and new talent at BAFTA.

“Guru Live also offers a chance for attendees to network with peers at a similar level, which is essential for career starters.”
