Nottingham-based MMO tech and game firm doubles in size for new projects

Monumental ramps up to over 60 staff

Monumental Games, the developers of the Monumental Technology Suite MMO middleware, has grown from 35 employees to over 60 in the last six months as it gears up its game production division.

It’s recently hired 20 year Sony, EA and Codemasters vet Ron Harris as game director, and Ewan Lamont, formerly production manager of the Warhammer pen-and-paper RPG, as project manager. Its game division is busy working on forthcoming MMO Football Superstars as well as two more unannounced projects.

“Growth comes with its own challenges, and ensuring we get the right people in the right places is a key component,” says Rik Alexander, CEO of Monumental. "We also have to make sure we retain our excellent staff and that’s about more than just offering a highly competitive package.”

Harris, who will also be working in a recruitment role, added: “The challenge of recruitment for us is all about maintaining the high quality of staff that we currently have. We’ve revised our benefits package across the board so that it not only helps to attract talented new candidates from around the globe, but also rewards those who have helped us to get to where we are now. In the end though, I think people work here simply because it’s a great environment – and that’s the most attractive benefit any studio can offer."
