Latest 3.1 update designed to offer users advanced functionality for building, distributing and promoting social apps

New Facebook SDK gets iOS 6 compatibility

Facebook’s new iOS SDK for developers has introduced built-in support for iOS 6.

The new 3.1 development kit update has been designed to offers users advanced functionality for building, distributing and promoting social apps on the iPhone 5 and iPad.

Added features include native UI controls such as friend picker, places picker, profile picture control and login controls.

A new FBSession API has also been introduced that manages, stores and refreshes users tokens. Developers can override the API’s default behaviours to build more advanced features.

Improved API support has been added in the latest update to improve performance for API calls to create a faster user experience, whilst a new Ad analytics beta has also been implemented to enable developers to see how successful and effective their ads are.

As well as supporting iOS development with its own SDK’s, Facebook also supports development in JavaScript, PHP and Android.
