Fresh iPad expected along with more details on OS X Mavericks and the new Mac Pro

New iPad mini to debut at Apple event

Apple is expected to hold another press conference to unveil its next iPad and plans for its Mac operating system in less than two weeks.

The company will hold its next invitation-only event on Tuesday, October 22nd, reports AllThingsD.

The focus of the event is expected to be the latest updates to its iPad line, the new Mac Pro and OS X Mavericks, the latter of which has been given a redesign by Apple design guru Jonathan Ive.

The fifth-generation iPad is assumed to have a thinner, lighter design akin to the iPad mini’s, and an improved camera. According to the site, it will run Apple’s new 64-bit A7 chip.

iPad mini is also getting an upgrade. The second-generation have a retina display and also likely see the A7 incorporated into its innards. However, it is unclear whether Apple’s new Touch ID fingerprint sensor that recently debuted on the iPhone 5S, will be included on the devices.

It’s unknown where the event will be held, but it is also thought that it will not the California Theatre in San Jose, where the iPad mini unveiling took place in 2012.
