Japanese publisher’s latest branch will focus on visual art production

New Malaysia studio for Bandai Namco

Bandai Namco has opened a new studio in Malaysia to strengthen its presence in this region’s growing games industry.

The branch was technically founded in March but begins operations this month, Pocket Gamer reports. The office will focus on visual art production, becoming a hub for all of the developer/publisher’s Southeast Asian operations.

Bandai Namco Malaysia is based in Kuala Lumpur, and will work closely with the firm’s Singapore office. The location is hoped to help strengthen relationships with Bandai Namco’s partners is neighbouring countries.

“Having a major industry player such as Bandai Namco setting up a studio in Malaysia speaks volumes of our talent pool, games industry and national economy," commented Hasnul Hadi Samsudin of the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation.

"Our games industry is stronger than ever and we are excited to see what lies ahead.”
