Not-for-profit organisation Women in Games has announced an inaugural Women in Games Mobile Awards, which will take place at the European Women in Games Conference in London on September 6th.
The awards, which are endorsed by the International Mobile Gaming Awards (IMGA), aim to recognise the best games published for mobile devices made by female developers in Europe.
The two awards include the Grand Prix Award, which will be awarded to the best mobile game made by a team that includes female developer or is led by a woman, and the Leadership Award which will be selected by a jury to recognise exceptional quality in the work of a mobile game developer.
"We welcome our partnership with the IMGA to put on awards that showcase mobile games made by teams with a significant contribution from women game developers, said Women in Games CEO, Marie-Claire Isaaman. "The IMGA have the longest standing mobile games award programme and we want to promote the entries for the IMGA MENA, IMGA SEA and IMGA Global competitions as well as our own Mobile Games Awards. The IMGA is also looking for more diverse jury members for their awards and we will be asking our members to sign up to be online judges.”
"We are honoured to be part of the Women in Games Mobile Awards," added IMGA CEO, Maarten Noyons. "IMGA has always strived to promote diversity and maintain gender equality among its jury and participants. We look forward to discovering and awarding the best games produced by teams including women!"
Entries for the awards are now open at www.womeningames.org/mobile-awards until August 20th. Please visit the website to see more information and criteria for entry.
