Graphics firm targeting living room with streaming device

Newest Nvidia Shield is 4k Android microconsole

Nvidia has unveiled the latest entry in its line of Shield products.

Simply called ‘Shield’, Nvidia’s new device is a new Android-powered set-top TV box powered by the company’s Tegra X1. The hardware supports 4K content, and can stream content via Nvidia’s new Grid streaming service.

Nvidia describes Grid as ‘Netflix for games’ and will stream titles at 1080p and 60 frames per second.

In addition, over 50 titles have been optimised for the Shield, including Crysis 3 and Doom 3: BFG Edition, while a number of triple-A games including Batman: Arkham Origins and Metro Last Light will be able to be streamed.
