Tech to power number of new titles including upcoming mobile RPG

Nexon signs licensing deal for Unreal Engine 4

Nexon has signed a long-term licensing deal with Epic for the publisher to use Unreal Engine 4 for its upcoming line-up of PC and mobile games.

The deal is separate from the recent news that Boss Key Productions will also be using the engine to power Project Blue Streak, which will be published by Nexon America.

Nexon’s upcoming games using the tech are said to include a mobile RPG based on a high-profile IP. Though not confirmed, this game could be a mobile version of Final Fantasy XI, also announced by Nexon today. The title is expected to be released in 2016.

“Unreal Engine 4 is the ultimate game engine in terms of high performance and flexibility,” said Nexon Korea VP Sangwon Chung.

“We couldn’t be happier to develop numerous projects on Unreal Engine 4 using our years of development expertise. We can’t wait for players to get their hands on the fantastic experiences we are creating right now.”
