Nextpeer has its mobile games SDK, which is claims revolutionises the way social and multiplayer functionality is added to titles.

The Nextpeer SDK allows devs to add a social layer to their games that doesn't affect the look or feel of the title, but enables a range of functions that have become essential in mobile hits.

Features include the ability to invite friends from various social networks, connect with other players within the game, and introduce synchronous and asynchronous multiplayer matches.

"We're basically creating the Xbox live for mobile, or what GameCenter and Google Play were supposed to be for gamers and game developers," said Nextpeer CEO Shai Magzimof. "The new focus is all about player experience and a true social experience."

The tool is compatible with games built for both iOS and Android, with support for the Unity, Cocos2d-x, libGDX and UIKit game engines.

Nextpeer claims a basic integration of the SDK – such as adding high score challenges – can be done within a few hours, while more advanced functionality – such as real-time interactions between players – may take up to a couple of weeks.

The software also serves as a social network in its own right, allowing players to send messages to each other, post to the Nextpeer newsfeed, issue challenges to other players and build a friends list.

The SDK is now available for iOS and open to all developers. The basic version of Nextpeer is free with ads, while an ad-free version costs $199 per month.

The Android version will be released in the coming weeks, following an advanced beta. A demo is available at www.nextpeer.com. Check out the video below for more:
