Vancouver International Game Summit becomes a Game Developer Conference in May 09

Now GDC heads to Canada, too

OK, so the next event by the already established Montreal International Game Summit is very near.

But hey, with two big coastal game scenes on the East (Montreal/Quebec) and the West (Vancouver) there’s clearly enough room in Canada for two events: GDC organisers Think have announced GDC Canada, taking place in May next year.

Building on the Vancouver International Game Summit of previous years, GDC has teamed up with Reboot Communications and New Media BC’s Vancouver Digital Week to create an event with "global perspectives on cross-discipline and cross-platform content, with an eye to serving the increasingly significant Canadian games business sector".

"GDC’s strength is in its ability to translate its core values to provide both global and local relevance," said Kathy Schoback, EVP of global Events, Think Services.

"We are incredibly excited to partner with Reboot and New Media BC on GDC Canada, which will serve the regional development community with conference content designed to engender learning, networking and inspiration."

There’s a holding site currently at www.gdc-canada.com
