Well, it was inevitable really. The charge of this game seems to know no bounds. PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has finally beaten the peak concurrent player record on Steam.

The record previously held by Valve’s own Dota 2 fell as many expected it to. The game just seems to be going from strength to strength, recently hitting 10 million sales on Steam for the early access title that only released in March 2017.
The previous concurrent record was 1,291,328 players for Dota 2 and PUBG has felled many of Steam and Valve’s most successful titles in the process of taking this record. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Team Fortress 2 and Dota 2 were all pretty much considered to be untouchable by analysts and gamers alike.
The hype behind the game has continued to grow away from Steam as well. The current views on Twitch at time of writing (15:51 – 18/09/17) place PUBG second on the list of top viewed games with 102,010 viewers, only beaten by Riot Games’ League of Legends at 131,590 viewers.
