Designer Matt Turner to represent games industry at LA â??Brits to Watchâ?? event

Playground proud of BAFTA nod

Playground Games’ Designer Matt turner has been selected as one of two games industry professionals representing the UK sector at the BAFTA Brits to Watch event being held at the Belasco Theater in Los Angeles on July 9th.

The event, which will be attended by BAFTA president HRH The Duke of Cambridge and HRH The Duchess of Cambridge, has been arranged to ‘highlight the incredible depth and range of great British talent currently emerging in film, television and video games.’

42 representitives of the UK film, TV and games industries will be present.

Turner was selected for his BAFTA winning design work on such titles as Race Driver: GRID and Colin McRae: DiRT 2, amongst other titles. He joined Playground Games last year.

“BAFTA has been a strong supporter of the UK games industry for years and I’m delighted to see them continue this approach by including top games talent alongside upcoming stars of film and TV in their ‘Brits to Watch’ list,” said Playground’s development director Gavin Raeburn.

“We are all enormously proud that Matt Turner is one of two UK designers to be included, and that he will be representing not just Playground Games but the whole of the UK games sector when he attends this gala event.

“Matt exemplifies the amazing group of developers we have brought together here at Playground – talented, ambitious and passionate – and it’s great to see these qualities being recognised on an international level.”
