Nintendo has revealed that Pokemon X & Y have already sold over 4 million units since launch last week

This latest installation of the popular series is the first with a simultaneous global launch, and Nintendo says that this release is tracking better than the previous pair by 70 percent if the U.S, Japanese, and European launches are added together.

In the past, Pokemon titles have released in Japan first, and are only launched in Europe and the U.S. after a few months.

The strong sales are enough to make Pokemon X & Y the fastest selling 3DS games yet.

The Pokemon franchise has sold 245 million units over its lifetime.
