Harmonix, the studio behind the hit Rock Band series, has chosen Fig as the crowdfunding platform for its next big title.

The US developer, which is currently putting the finishing touches on Rock Band 4, is one of the first to use the new site, with Fig launching last month.

Differentiating itself from the likes of Kickstarter and Indiegogo, Fig is specifically designed for games projects and promises to be a curated platform. It also offers equity corwdfunding, with approved investors able to add their own backing to projects.

Fig was launched by former Double Fine COO Justin Bailey, who serves as CEO. Develop interviewed Bailey about the new platform last month.

The site’s advisory board includes Obsidian CEO Feargus Urquhart, Double Fine founder Tim Schafer and InXile boss Brian Fargo. Harmonix’s CCO Alex Rigopulos will also join the board, according to GamesIndustry.

“Harmonix has successfully gone the traditional crowdfunding route before, and now we are looking to explore offering both rewards as well as investment opportunities to the community when we launch our next title via Fig in Q4 of 2015,” said Rigopulos. “I’m looking forward to sharing more information with everyone very soon.”
