New indie package supports the World Land Trust charity

Save a tree: The Humble Botanicula debut

The Humble Bundle released the Humble Botanicula Debut today.

The pay what you want bundle has always supported charity, but this package introduces a new cause with the World Land Trust.

A charity that supports the conservation of Rainforests and other natural habitats, the World Land Trust has helped to purchase over 500,000 acres of land which are now protected as permanent wildlife reserves.

The unusual bent to the bundle’s charitable interests is due to its equally unusual title game, Botanicula, in which the player takes on the role of a team of critters trying to protect their environment from parasitic invaders.

This bundle is also unique in that it is offering a feature-length stop-motion animated film as a reward for those who choose to pay more than the average. The film, Kooky, by Czech director Jan Svěrák, tells the story of a teddy bear trying to return home after being thrown out.

Other games in the package include Machinarium, and Samorost 2, with Windosill available as bonus content for generous contributors.

The bundle has fourteen days left, and already estimates to have saved over 180 acres of land.
