Popular UI group Scaleform signed a deal with Activision and its subsidiary studio High Moon for the recent Transformers project, the company has announced.
Californian developer High Moon used Scaleform’s Flash-based vector graphics technology to build slick interfaces, heads-up displays and menus for Transformers: War for Cybertron – a game built on Unreal Engine 3.
Activision Worldwide Studio president Dave Stohl recently told Develop that the publisher puts no pressure on which tech its studios use.
“At Activision we use everything; Unreal tech and the [id tech-modified] Call of Duty engine, everything,” he said.
“We don’t push one central, monolithic codebase philosophy at all. There’s been times when I’ve tried to develop a lot of our own stuff that our teams can use, but man, developers want to do their own thing.”
Scaleform CEO Brendan Iribe said his firm “looks forward to supporting their successful team on the development of future titles in this hugely successful franchise.”
This year Epic Games secured a key partnership with Scaleform, in a deal that sees Unreal Engine 3 bundle in the Scaleform GFx tool.
