Scaleform and GameSpy have teamed together to create Scaleform Lobby, a prefabricated multiplayer interface solution.
The tech is built on both GameSpy’s comprehensive networking components and Scaleform’s GFx vector graphics interface engine. Scaleform Lobby provides out-of-the-box components for areas such as account creation, friend lists, statistics, matchmaking and lobbies, all of which are provided in ten languages and with support for further localisation.
Cevat Yerli, CEO of Crytek, who used the Scaleform Lobby solution in Crysis, said: "Scaleform Lobby’s components provided the building blocks for Crytek to rapidly develop Crysis’ premier multiplayer user interface experience. We were able to easily customize Crysis’ lobby to provide a seamless user experience consistent with the game’s UI. By deploying Scaleform Lobby within our existing GFx production pipeline, the Crytek team achieved optimal development time and significant cost savings.”
Brendan Iribe, CEO of Scaleform, added: “We designed the Scaleform Lobby from the ground up to deal with the most demanding requirements of AAA game developers. Building on our experience working with GameSpy, Crytek and our rapidly growing customer base of over 150 titles, we created an in-game lobby solution that can be easily integrated and customized for a wide range of games.”
