3D optimisation tools firm Donya Labs has unveiled a new cloud-based SaaS platform for its Simplygon tech.
Through the cloud service, developers will now be able to use Simplygon from within Unity. The tool will use a pay per usage model.
The company has begun a beta for the tech, and is bringing on board a select number of Unity developers to test the system.
The tool automatically generates lower-polygon models to assist with the optimisation process and make games and visuals run smoother, with higher frame rates and requiring less data.
“Deploying Simplygon in the cloud, and under a business model specifically tailored for smaller game development studios gives us the opportunity to offer our technology to an entirely new tier of digital content creators,” said Donya Labs co-founder Martin Ekdal.
“The traditional model continues to work in parallel to this offering as we look to bring Simplygon to developers of all sizes. Focusing this first phase of the SaaS beta on Unity will enable us to reach a large percentage of small to mid-sized game development studios and tune the product to best suit their needs.”
