Games industry charity SpecialEffect is asking developers and publishers to donate everything for just one day.
As part of its One Special Day initiative, a number of studios will be giving 100 per cent of their sales revenue for one or more of their games, or all of their advertising revenue, or everything generated by in-app purchases or DLC, to the charity.
All proceeds will go into the work that SpecialEffect does to help people with disabilities enjoy video games in the same way everyone else does.
The day will be July 15th, 2016 and a number of firms have already signed up, including NDreams, Devolver Digital, First Touch Games, New Star, Ripstone Games, Nomad Games and Tag Games – and there’s still time to add your studio to that list.
SpecialEffect will also be working with high-profile YouTubers and streamers to promote the games taking part in One Special Day.
“We’re asking the games industry to be loud and proud about supporting our work in helping people with all kinds of physical disabilities to play video games,” said founder and CEO Dr Mick Donegan.
“It’s a great opportunity for companies to demonstrate CSR in a way that resonates with their own communities, and we’ll be promoting One Special Day to the national media with the message that this is an industry in unity for a worthwhile cause.”
