Online games company Spil Games has announced the appointment of a new CEO.
As of April 1st, the firm will be run by Tung Nguyen-Khac, who previously held the same position at the gaming division of German TV company ProSiebenSat.1. While there, his acquisition of Aeria Games helped make the company one of Europe's top games publishers.
"This is a great company with tremendous opportunity, especially with their power foundation of 130m monthly users," the new CEO told Develop. "I am impressed with the team and their focus to be the game publisher of choice, enabling game developers to reach massive global audiences across multiple platforms and devices."
Nguyen-Khac's goal is to develop Spil into a "mobile gaming leader" by expanding and strengthening the firm's core online business, accelerating its mobile web operations and focusing heavily on native mobile games. This will involve Spil Games' existing IP as well as reaching out to other developers that hope to attract a global audience.
"Spil is focused on delivering great content from third-party developers across all platforms, as well as managing its own distribution channels," he said. "This strategy means we continue to strongly invest in HTML5 games, as it remains a hugely untapped potential for the casual games space and will continue to afford us the ability to use our massive web audences to cross promote our native games catalogue, which will grow substantially this year.
"I am thrilled to become a part of such a great company and team. I have the highest hopes and confidence in Spil Games' potential over the coming years. We are totally focused on discovering and delivering world class games to our players via multiple platforms and we are all excited about what this means and where it will take us."
