The Brighton team at Studio Gobo has welcomed Jason Green into the fold as their new art director.

Green previously held the same role at Zynga’s Boss Alien, a studio for which he was also co-founder, and worked on the CSR Racing and Classics titles. He has more than 20 years’ experience of games development, with past titles including Split/Second, MotoGP and Mortal Kombat.

At Gobo, he will be “responsible for steering the visual and user experience across all of [our] mobile games”, according to the studio.

Speaking of his new appointment, Green said: “I’m excited to join Gobo as its mobile strategy hits full speed and work alongside this incredibly talented team.”

Studio head Jon Gibson added: “Jason is at the top of his game and we’re incredibly excited to have him on board to help lead an exciting new chapter in Gobo’s evolution. He brings a wealth of experience having worked on highly successful mobile games and is an important part of our future.”

Studio Gobo was one of several British developers affected by Disney’s decision to scrap toys-to-life brand Disney Infinity, having previously developed the Pirates of the Caribbean, Guardians of the Galaxy and Star Wars: Rise against the Empire playsets.

The firm told Develop: “We are disappointed to hear that The Walt Disney Company will not be continuing the Disney Infinity franchise. We have enjoyed a very close working relationship with our friends at Avalanche, as well as many of the Disney team, over the last four years. We’re immensely proud of the games we’ve made alongside them and wish them well for the future.

“Last year we made the decision to grow the company and establish a second studio in Brighton which has two high-profile projects in development and others are in discussion. Some of the team will now work on these projects and its very much business as usual here at Studio Gobo.”
