Swery’s The Good Life reaches £456k Kickstarter goal

Hidetaka ‘Swery’ Suehiro’s The Good Life has finally been successfully crowdfunded.

A few days before the end of the Kickstarter campaign (which officially finishes on Saturday, May 5th), the title has reached its goal of £456,018 ($650,000) and even surpassed it, with the pledges currently sitting at £485,559.

The Good Life started its crowdfunding journey on Fig back in September 2017, aiming for an ambitious $1.5m. By the end of the campaign in October, the game had only reached 45 per cent of its goal ($682,864) – which would explain why this time around the developers have lowered the target.

The title is being developed by Deadly Premonition and D4: Dark Dreams Don’t Die developer Hidetaka ‘Swery’ Suehiro and Panzer Dragoon creator Yukio Futatsugi, through their studios White Owls and Grounding.

The Good Life should release in Q3 2019, on Steam for $29 (£21) and PS4 for $39 (£28). A Switch version could also release, if the Kickstarter campaign reaches $800,000 (£588,484).

The Good Life is being described by its creators as a “debt repayment life simulation RPG.” The single-player title focuses on the story of New York photographer Naomi, who moves to a British town called Rainy Woods in order to pay off her massive debt, where all the residents inexplicably turn into cats and dogs during the night.

There are still a couple of days to take part in the Kickstarter campaign – if you’re interested head to the game’s page
