WGA nominations include a few unexpected selections

The Writers Guild of America announces 2017 video game writing noms

Yesterday, the East and West outfits of the Writer’s Guild of America announced four finalists for the organisations "Outstanding Achievement in Videogame Writing" award and the 2017 nominations have a couple of leftfield selections.

These nominations are just for the American side of the guild. The British aspect of the guild announced their nominations late last year with a couple of off-the-wall selections of their own: EA’s FIFA 16 made the list in the U.K, and the winner of that award will be announced later this month.

The American outfits choices range from across the year, and are listed below. They’ll be announced at an award next month, on February 19th, at dual events in both New York and Los Angeles.

Those nominations, in full:

  • Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare – Written by Brian Bloom; Activision
  • Far Cry Primal – Story by Jean-Sébastien Décant, Ian C. Ryan, Kevin Shortt; Lead Writers Ian C. Ryan, Kevin Shortt; Writers Lynne Kamm, Susan Patrick; Ubisoft
  • MR. ROBOT 1.51exfiltratiOn – Story by Adam Hines, Kor Adana; Written by Adam Hines; Night School Studio
  • Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End – Written by Neil Druckmann, Josh Scherr; Additional Writing Tom Bissell, Ryan James; Naughty Dog
