The UK trade association has created this committee to focus on raising the profile of, and supporting, the UK’s increasing number of social and mobile game developers.
The Casual Games Committee will support companies creating games on all formats, providing their production budgets fall between £10,000 and £500,000.
TIGA’s first casual games event will take place on Friday, May 13 in London.
“TIGA’s vision is to make the UK the best place in the world to do games business. Casual games are a crucial part of our industry. TIGA’s new Casual Games Committee will support our casual games developer members by raising their profile and by generating new business opportunities for them,” said TIGA CEO Richard Wilson.
Over 100 attendees will be arriving from casual games companies based throughout the UK to network and hear speakers from the BBC, Autodesk, Channel 4 Education, Microsoft, Mo Pay, Disney, RIM, UKTI and Zylom.
Key members of the team who created Tomb Raider, Jeremy Heath-Smith and Adrian Smith will also be present.
“This launch event is designed to demonstrate our commitment to help TIGA members generate new business, investigate potential opportunities and network with like minded companies,” said Mike Hawkyard, chairman of TIGA’s casual game group and CEO of 4T2.
“We’ll also be requesting ideas on future initiatives and events that can be organised to help UK casual gaming companies stand out in a global market place.”
Hawkyard explained what participants can expect from the committee in an interview with Develop earlier this year.
