Trade body TIGA has published a free report designed to help students understand how they can improve their chances of finding employment in the games industry.

Put together in partnership with the Winchester School of Art, the report – entitled Leap 2014 – collects the experiences of recruitment bosses from some of the UK's biggest games studios, as well as university and college course leaders for games-related qualifications.

Leap 2014 explores what studios expect from both students and universities, and discusses how the industry is working with education and the government to ensure more graduates find employment.

Key insights include the fact that studios most value any students that have made and launched a game before graduating, and seek applicants with skills and depth in a particular specialist.

“This report contains a great deal of excellent advice for universities and colleges that arose from the discussion at Leap 2014, and should prove equally useful for students hoping to secure a job in the highly competitive UK videogames industry," said TIGA CEO Richard Wilson.
