UK Warner-owned team to make cartoon and touch-screen spin-offs

Traveller’s Tales looks to take Lego Batman to TV, iPhones

Traveller’s Tales is taking the multi-media lessons learnt from its newish owner Warner Bros very seriously, according to two new reports today.

Recently, Traveller’s Tales head Jon Burton confirmed that the studio planned to use its recently-gained Hollywood contacts book to help the team create a CG animation series using its game tools.

Now, according to Eurogamer, the first of its kids cartoons will be an adaption of Lego Batman for children’s TV.

"We’re looking to do… a LEGO Batman series," producer Rich Earl told the consumer site during Games Convention in Leipzig last week.

"I think they’re looking at doing a one-off initially; and they’re basically able to utilise the assets, because our team has brought Lego characters to life."

Meanwhile, rumour reports by our own technical editor Jon Jordan, writing for Pocketgamer, say that the studio is also working on transfering Lego Batman to the iPhone.

Little else is known about the project so far – although it’s possible that TT’s handheld team, TT Fusion (formed after its acquisition of Embryonic earlier last year), is handling the conversion of the upcoming Lego action-adventure which is already heading to a plethora of formats (360, PS3, Wii, PS2, PSP, DS and PC) when it launches in October.
