Scott Forstall and John Browett leaving company in executive shake-up

Two senior execs leave Apple

Apple has revealed a changing of the guard in company management involving the departure of two senior executives.

Senior VP of iOS Scott Forstall and senior VP of retail John Browett are leaving the company, and Apple says it is still looking for a replacement.

Apple has given no reason for the departures.

In the meantime a number of executives will have expanded roles to fill in the gaps.

Design rainman Jony Ive will oversee company-wide Human Interface, Eddy Cue and the group behind the App Store will take charge of Siri and Maps, while Craig Federighi will take charge of both iOS and OS X – a move placing both Apple operating systems under one roof.

Apple is also forming a new Technologies group headed by Bob Mansfield which combines all the company’s wireless teams into one organization.

As no replacement has been found for Browett, the retail team will temporarily report directly to CEO Tim Cook.
