Ubisoft open new studio in Sweden

Ubisoft has announced a new addition to its already large in-house studio line up with the opening of Ubisoft Stockholm.

The new Swedish studio will be headed up by former EA DICE studio manager, Patrick Bach. The studio joins an increasing number of European studios for Ubisoft after they opened Ubisoft Bordeaux and Ubisoft Berlin back in April.

The team at Ubisoft Stockholm will be working with the team from Massive, based in Malmö, Sweden. Massive were one of the teams behind Tom Clancy’s The Division and earlier this year announced that they are working on a game based on James Cameron’s Avatar movies.

Speaking on the Ubisoft blog, Patrick Bach said: "When talking to Ubisoft about values and goals I noticed that we shared a lot of thinking, especially when it came to the creative and practical process of making games. I feel like I will be able to use my potential in a new and different way in the Ubisoft family. I’m also looking forward to working with new world class colleagues around the world.

"Stockholm is one of the great gaming hubs of the world with a huge pool of experienced and creative talent. That together with an international buzz and a great atmosphere makes Stockholm a very unique place to create amazing games."
