Aspiring game developers are invited to an event in Toronto where their game ideas are pitched to a panel of industry experts.
Taking place early next month at the McLuhan Festival of the Future, the Vortex 2009 Competition will see hopeful developers pitch their game ideas and prototypes to leading industry experts.
Newly announced to that expert panel is Yannis Mallat, CEO of Ubisoft Toronto.
The winning game pitch will win a cash prize of $2500, though event organisers say the competition’s “prize package” is worth “in excess of $50,000.”
Prior to the pitching contest, the selection of amateur developers will go through an intense one-day workshop, picking up inspiration and ideas from expert developers.
It’s not too late to pitch an idea if you already have one; entries for the competition end on October 23.
“The Vortex Competition has demonstrated the outstanding calibre of talent for the electronic entertainment industry within Ontario,” said Vikas Gupta, president of TransGaming Technologies.
“This competition has raised the profile of Ontario video game companies and has cast a spotlight on the young emerging stars of tomorrow.”
