Ian Baverstock and Jonathan Newth, long-serving members of the UK games industry, have founded a new digital games publishing business.

Named Chilled Mouse, the new firm will release games across multiple platforms starting with a PC title later this month.

Baverstock is known as a founder of both Tenshi Partners, as well as his four-year stint as chairman of TIGA. Newth, meanwhile, is a partner at Tenshi where he has trained and mentored multiple games start-ups. Both were founders of Kuju Entertainment.

"The opportunity to bring great games to all sorts of players is phenomenal at the moment," said Baverstock. "This is the second great age of indie gaming. We spent the first one playing games and building a developer; this time we'll be playing games and building a community."

The firm also seems to be taking its moniker quite seriously. Check out the official description of Chilled Mouse:

Chilled Mouse is a digital publisher dedicated to bringing great games to players everywhere - or at least everywhere that has an internet connection.

There have been some very famous mice in the entertainment industry but the company is chilled about that. It expects to earn its place in your hearts the hard way. That's because this chilled mouse has been well trained in the tricky mazes, pointlessly repetitive tasks for small reward and occasionally burnt whiskers of the games industry over many years.

At Chilled Mouse the plan to put all that animal testing to good effect by serving up fun for players whilst avoiding all the obvious traps. We know that’s a cheesy objective but at Chilled Mouse our strategy is to stay focused on the cheese.

…okay, then.
