Unity has confirmed that its engine will support both the New Nintendo 3DS and New Nintendo 3DS XL.

The latest iterations of Nintendo’s handheld games platform were released earlier this year, and introduce new features such as a second thumbstick, near-field communication and head-tracking 3D functionality.

The announcement was made during the keynote speech at Unity’s Unite 2015 Tokyo event, according the firm’s official blog.

Unity says the new platforms “open the door for tens of thousands of studios and over 4m developers using this Unity development platform to bring exciting new mobile and social games, introduce their amazing existing games to a new audience and create new games using innovative functions of the New Nintendo 3DS and New Nintendo 3DS XL system.”
