Unity Technologies has created a new user account system that’s more accommodating for studios working with freelancers, contractors or spread across a variety of locations.
Developers can now sign up for a Unity ID account and are automatically assigned an ‘organisation’, which can help them keep track of their purchases for their company or personal projects.
They can also invite other people to join their organisation, with different access for different roles, making it easier to co-ordinate teams working remotely, as well as external contributors.
The owner or manager of a studio’s Unity ID organisation can use the new Groups feature to manage their teams and give certain users access to specific Unity projects.
Owners have full control over the organisation’s Unity licences and projects, and are the only ones with access to payment and billing data. Managers can do many of the same things as an owner, but can’t see billing and credit card information. Users can only read and view information, but not edit it.
You can even invite people from outside your organisation into a specific project through the editor or the project’s user page, giving them access to the game but not the organisation.
