Monument Valley dev only studio to pick up more than one award

Ustwo and Bungie lead BAFTA 2015 winners

The British Academy Games Awards were held last night, with big wins for several UK studios including Ustwo Games, Creative Assembly and Roll7.

Ustwo Games (pictured) were the big winners of the night, picking up two awards for its seminal mobile puzzle game Monument Valley. The title received best British Game and best Mobile & Handheld title, and was the only game to pick up two awards.

Bungie picked up Best Game for Destiny, fighting off competition from Dragon Age: Inquisition, Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor, Mario Kart 8, Monument Valley and Alien: Isolation.

While Creative Assembly missed on on the big prize, Alien: Isolation didn’t go home empty-handed, picking up the award for Audio Achievement.

And, as previously announced, Frontier founder and Elite co-developer David Braben was honoured with the Fellowship award.

Meanwhile, student game developers Overly Kinetic won the BAFTA Ones to Watch Award, a prize organised in association with Dare to Be Digital. The team’s winning game, Chambara, is ninja-themed multiplayer game where players must blend into brightly coloured background to get the edge over their opponents.

Dare to be Digital 2015 is now open for applications, with a much wider criteria than before.
