Warner Bros has snapped up the rights for a film adaptation of Scott Cawthon’s hit horror game Five Nights at Freddy’s.

The game tasks a security guard with surviving the night at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza where murderous animatronic robots come to life.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Roy Lee, who has worked on The Ring and The Grudge, will be producer on the project alongside KatzSmith Procutions’ Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg, who are developing a Beetlejuice sequel.

The three producers are also currently working on a new movie based on Stephen King’s It.

"The story really lends itself to being a movie and it taps into a largely unexplored niche of horror that a lot of people will be able to relate to," said Cawthon.
