Nintendo has sold more than ten million Wii Us since its launch in November 2012.

The console giant posted its biggest Q1 since 2012 after net sales hit £466.7m for the three months ending June 30th. Operating income meanwhile climbed to £5.94m, up from a loss during the same period last year of nearly £49m. Overall profits for the quarter stood at £42.8m.

Nintendo sold just over 1m 3DS handhelds during the last quarter to help boost its sales. Software sales also reached 7.92 for the platform.

Wii U outing Splatoon has performed well following its release in May, with the new IP selling 1.62m copies by June 30th. The Wii U sold 470,000 units, while 4.55m games were sold for the console.

No numbers were given for Amiibo sales, though Nintendo called them “favourable”.
