Will Wright now EA consultant

Maxis co-founder clarifies his relationship with EA following his sudden exodus
Publish date:

Will Wright has clarified that his recent departure from Maxis to new outfit Stupid Fun Club has not severed his work relations with EA or the Spore team.

“I don’t think it was widely reported, but alongside [Stupid Fun Club], I also entered into a consulting agreement with EA,” Wright told Game Daily.

“I will [still] be involved with EA on developing the Spore franchise as well,” he said.

Wright – whose work includes SimCity, The Sims and Spore – announced his departure from Maxis early in April.

He co-founded the company some 20 years before his departure, and now enters a new phase in his career with cross-media group Stupid Fun Club; an “entertainment think-tank developing new intellectual properties.”
