One of the original co-founders of the first Xbox project will provide a keynote speaker session at this year’s Montreal International Game Summit.
Ed Fries was vice president of game publishing at Microsoft as the Xbox first launched in 2001, before leaving the group three years later.
Also set to attend the event is 2DBOY co-founder Ron Carmel, whose keynote will examine the crucial steps involved in developing an independent video game.
The event, now in its seventh year, runs November 8th to 9th.
MIGS 2010 covers five tracks and this year offers a keynote lecture in each one. Headlining business will be Fuzbi director David Edery, who will discuss the life cycle of online distribution platforms.
Alex Alvarez, the CEO Gnomon School of Design, offers a keynote on how current game artists can stay inspired in a hit-driven, often regimented design industry.
The design track sees PlayDom’s Scott Jon Siegel explore how to measure success in the emerging world of casual games.
Autodesk’s Tom Wujec will offer a production keynote that will offer solutions for of today’s visual design challenges.
Finally, Harmonix will offer a keynote on developing video games without conventional controllers.
Last year’s MIGS event hosted over 80 talks from companies such as Square Enix, Valve, Maxis and Media Molecule.
