US console sales triple in week beginning November 2nd thanks to price cuts and new releases

Xbox One nears 10m units sold to retail

Microsoft has sold nearly ten million Xbox One consoles in to retail, it has announced.

The firm said recent game releases and price cuts had led to sales tripling week-on-week in the US after the discount on November 2nd.

Xbox One rival the PS4 has sold 13.5 million consoles as of October, but Microsoft’s latest figures show it is catching up.

As of September 30th meanwhile, Wii U sales stood at 7.29m. It should be noted however Nintendo recently noted that pre-orders for the upcoming Super Smash Bros for the console are at a record high, and as a result it expects a sharp rise in hardware sales.
