The legal battle between Zynga and Kixeye over the alleged theft of trade secrets by Alan Patmore has ended in a settlement.
Patmore, formerly general manager for Zynga’s Cityville, joined Kixeye as vice president of product in September of last year.
Zynga quickly filed suit, claiming that Patmore had taken company files with him containing trade secrets including design documents for unreleased titles, monetization plans, and employee compensation information.
As reported by TechCrunch, the two companies have reached a settlement, and Patmore has publicly apologized for his actions.
“I accept responsibility for making a serious mistake by copying and taking Zynga confidential information when I resigned from Zynga,” he said.
“I understand the consequences of my actions and I sincerely apologize to Zynga and my former colleagues.”
Though this probably sounds favorable to Zynga, neither company would disclose the details of the settlement.
“Zynga Inc. and KIXEYE Inc. have reached a mutually agreeable settlement of their litigation involving Alan Patmore in San Francisco Superior Court,” reads a joint statement issued by both companies.
