A launch shipment of Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes was almost delayed on its way to retail thanks to some moths.
Asian gypsy moths, specifically. Videogamer reports that Disney Interactive’s vice president of production John Vignocchi detailed the episode in the latest issue of Edge.
"The container ship had probably 500 of those railroad cars on them and Infinity was in there, but one of the other containers on the ship contained Asian gypsy moths," he explained.
"They had to take the entire ship and put it back out to sea to do the whole fumigation of it. It was like, ‘Oh goodness, some of our starter packs are going to be late to certain retailers. What are we going to do? It’s Asian gypsy moths? What is an Asian gypsy moth? Do they eat babies?"
As it happens, the game made it to retail just fine.
We were going to insert some interesting observations about the Asian gypsy moth at this point to pad out the story a little, but we were just going to steal them from Wikipedia as we don’t know anything about them. We’d not even heard of them until today.
