Don’t forget – bring a tenner to the MCV Awards 2013

GamesAid will once again be asking attendees at this year’s MCV Awards to participate in the Gamesaid Tenner.

So make sure you have 10 in your pocket when you turn up!

The organisation last year raised 4,000 at the MCV Awards 2012. And if you’re already feeling generous, you can make your donation RIGHT NOW at http://www.justgiving.com/MCVAwardsTenner2013

All donations will be split amongst Gamesaid’s partner charities.

You can also donate by text message – simply text 10 GAID66 to 70070.

But what will I get for my money, you may ask? Although only if you’re a heartless swine, of course, as it’s for charity. As it happens, though you do get something – after a successful debut at Christmas, the Games On Song choir will be delivering only its second ever performance on the night.

Led by IGN’s Ian Chambers, the choir performed their first charity concert in December, raising 12,500. The singers are games industry professionals of all levels and includes Andy Payne, Kirsty Payne, Ian Livingston, Richard Keen, Rob Cooper, Alan Dykes, Jo Twist, Bruce Grove, Charlotte Fraczek and Harry Holmwood.

The MCV Awards return tomorrow night (April 18th 2013)with eight new prizes up for grabs. Updated and improved categories have once again widened the scope of the awards to reflect the changing market.

For the 2013 awards we have new prizes for Retail Concept and Digital Retailer, two dedicated hardware prizes, plus new team awards for Export Sales, UK Media and UK Games Studio.

They help form a total of 23 awards that are up for grabs, which include hotly-contested favourites such as Specialist Retailer, Game Publisher, New Game Brand, Marketing Team and PR Team.

The full list of finalistscan be read here.

The MCV Awards 2013 return to the Lancaster London Hotel, with Inbetweeners’ star Greg Davies also returning to the host slot for the evening. Event sponsors include ShopTo, IGN, OPM, 2K, The Hut Group, Click Entertainment, Intergi, Green Man Gaming, Incomm, Link Distribution, Wii U, OnLive, Respondez, MCM Comic Con and Injustice: Gods Among Us.
